Project Description
The Ackerman Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU) was approved in November 2019. It includes construction of a wastewater collection system to service approximately 1,300 properties with sewer service, new water service lines and a vacuum station that will provide sewer collection for the wastewater system. The project is divided into four zones and a low-pressure sewer (LPS) section.

Throughout the Ackerman Avenue neighborhood in Port Charlotte.
Project Impacts
During construction, residents may temporarily experience low water pressure.
Latest Updates
- Construction of the vacuum station located at 18330 Ackerman Ave. is complete.
Zone 1
- Zone 1 connections were completed on March 13, 2025.
Zone 2
- Zone 2 connections started on Sept. 22, 2023 and are currently expected to be completed in mid-2026.
- Water line replacement and sewer main installation is complete.
- Due to unexpected circumstances beyond our control involving the contractor, there is a delay for customers scheduled for Zone 2 connections. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and remain fully committed to progressing the project as quickly as possible. An update will be provided on this page with information.
Zones 3, 4 and low-pressure sewer (LPS)
- The Board of County Commission approved Forsberg Construction, Inc. as the contract for Zones 3, 4 and LPS.
- Construction in Zone 3 began in March 2025.
- Water main installation in the LPS area began the week of Oct. 6.
- Water main installation in Zone 4 Phase 2 is scheduled for pressure testing Oct. 20 and 21.
- Water main installation for Zone 4 Phase 1 is awaiting clearance from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
