County Commission Issues Request for Applications for Affordable Housing Development Assistance

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (May 5, 2026) – The Charlotte County Commission is requesting applications for the consideration of providing local government support for the development of affordable housing.  The County Commission provides local government support to assist in the construction, rehabilitation and permanent financing of multi-family housing developments in unincorporated Charlotte County. The amount of funds available for local government contribution is $340,000 for multi- family developments seeking housing credits from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation pursuant to FHFC RFA 2026-201, and Local Government Area of Opportunity Funding from the County Commission.  Applications related to FHFC RFA 2026-201 are due no later than 5 p.m., June 5, 2026.

All applications submitted will be reviewed by the Charlotte HOME Review Committee, who will make recommendations to the board at its Aug. 28 meeting.  The County Commission will decide whether or not to authorize a commitment letter and loan to the recommended developer. The County Commission will not consider issuing a commitment letter to provide financing for any development unless the applicant has satisfied the general requirements set forth in the guidelines, submits a timely, complete, and acceptable application and complies with all of the procedures and requirements contained within the County Commission’s application procedures and program guidelines. To view the full RFA with procedures and guidelines, and to obtain a copy of the application, visit the county’s website at www.charlottecountyfl.gov/boards-committees/affordable-housing-advisory-committee/charlotte-home.stml
