Residential Stucco

The addition of new, or replacement of existing stucco at an existing residential structure. General maintenance does not require a permit. If in doubt, please contact us before performing work.

Required Forms/Documents

  • Application for Siding, Soffit and Stucco Permit (1 original signed): Note: Form not required for online submittals.
  • Notice of Commencement (1 copy signed and recorded): Form required when any improvement for which the direct contract price is greater than $5,000. Must be submitted prior to scheduling the first inspection.
  • Owner-Builder Permit Information: Please read this information about what and who may qualify for an Owner-Builder permit. An Owner-Builder Disclosure Statement Form must be completed.
  • Owner-Builder Disclosure Statement (1 original, personally signed at the permit counter): Eligible Owner-Builders must complete this form in person at the time of application. Required by Florida law in order to be exempt from having to be a licensed contractor (sale, rental or lease of the property is prohibited for 1 year from permit completion).
  • Checklist for Lath, Soffit, Fascia Inspections. Provides guidance for inspections.

Fees

At Time of Application

  • Building: $90
  • Surcharge: $4

Note: Payments by check should be made payable to either "CCBCC" or Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners. Payments are also accepted by Mastercard or Visa credit or debit cards.

Department Reviews

  • Intake/Sufficiency: A review of the application, and its required documents to verify completeness for acceptance and payment of initial fees.
  • Permit Issuance: At this point, work may commence. The applicant will receive an approved copy of the permit package, and an Inspection Card to be posted at the site.

Typical Inspections

Inspection Type (IVR System Code):

  • In-Progress Stucco/Lath Inspection (520): Will be conducted when lath is 100% complete including any architectural features and no more than 50% of the 1st coat of stucco has been applied. The lath inspection will verify compliance with the FBC 7th Edition (2020) and ASTM-C1063. Water resistive barriers will be inspected in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
