Ben Bailey currently serves as the Community Development Director for Charlotte County which oversees all aspects land development within the County. Before becoming the Director, Ben served as Charlotte County’s Building Official for eight years where he managed the permitting and contractor licensing divisions. Before coming to Charlotte County, Ben served as the Deputy Building Official for the City of Fort Myers managing their permitting and inspections division.
Ben has been in the construction industry for 30 years which has led him to successful careers in both the private and public sectors. He holds seventeen certifications and licenses for building code enforcement and currently serves as a State Director for the Building Official Association of Florida (BOAF) as well as Chapter Director of the Gulf Coast Building Officials Association of Florida. Ben has been recognized for his service within the industry by being awarded the Gulf Coast Building Official of the Year in 2014 while working with the City of Fort Myers and awarded again in 2018 with Charlotte County.
