Notice of Public Comment Period for Rebuild Florida Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program (HMGMP) Application

Charlotte County is providing public notice of its intent to apply for funding through the Rebuild Florida Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program (HMGMP) administered by FloridaCommerce. The County is seeking Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds in the amount of $8,215,995.25  to support the construction of a new Special Needs Safe Room with an emergency generator, to be located at 21500 Clinton Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL 33954.

This critical infrastructure project will serve medically vulnerable residents during hurricanes and other disaster events by creating a permanent, code-compliant shelter designed to withstand severe weather and maintain operations during power outages.

As part of the CDBG-DR application process, Charlotte County is opening a 10-day public comment period to solicit input and feedback from residents.
