The Greater Port Charlotte Street & Drainage MSBU advisory board has requested the design and construction of a new 6' sidewalk on Dorchester, Bachmann Boulevard and Yancy Street.Project Location
This project will include the design of new 6-foot sidewalks on the Southside of Bachmann Boulevard from Atwater Street to Dorchester Street, on the West side of Dorchester Street from Bachmann Boulevard to Yancy Street, and the West side of Yancy Street from Dorchester Street to Midway Boulevard.Latest Updates
At the recommendation of the advisory board, the project was divided into two phases, with Phase 1 beginning at Midway Boulevard and extending to Peachland Boulevard. Phase 1 is currently underway. Florida Power & Light (FPL) has finished relocating its utility poles to the right-of-way line to provide space for the installation of the new water main, which is nearing completion. Once testing is finalized, residential service connections will be transferred to the new main. The existing water main will then be removed. Additionally, portions of the new stormwater system—including structures and piping—have already been installed. Sidewalk construction will begin following completion of this work.
